You have 7 -10 seconds to make a first impression. Not a whole lot of time!
Most people make the mistake of focusing only on the themselves worrying about what the other person will think of them or having a personal agenda.
Rule of thumb - people don’t remember what you say, they remember how you made them feel.
Your ability to be present, connect, engage and share stories makes the other person feel important.
You can’t do this when you are too preoccupied and focused only on yourself. You have to get over yourself and shift your focus to the other person.
Imagine everyone you meet is walking around with an invisible sign that reads, “Make me feel important.”
When you approach everyone interact with an authentic enthusiasm, curiosity, and gratitude, you have a better chance at leaving them feeling better about themselves and opens the door to building and developing a meaningful relationship.
To increase you chances of leaving a great first impression, below are three elements that are absolutely within your control with each interaction.
Posture Do you walk with your shoulders and head slumped down towards the floor or do you stand tall, shoulders down and back, and head up?
Does you posture exude confidence and a healthy unconditional love and respect for yourself?
Voice Is your voice working for you or against you? How would you rate your volume, pitch, tone, pace?
Do you try to rush through quickly what say or do you leave pauses and silence?
Do you speak with an abrasive or timid tone? Are you speak in a monotone or does your speech flow like a melody?
Gestures Are you open or are you closed? Do you have a friendly eye contact? Do you stare? Do your eyes wander around the room?
Are your gestures open or do you cross your arms across your chest?
Are you gestures and facial expressions animated and vibrant or are your movements stiff and tight?
***Based on your last 5 interactions, rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 in each of these elements.
***Now, get crystal clear on the perception you want others to have of you? What habits or actions do you intentionally need to do that aligns with your best self?
This isn’t about people pleasing. It’s about being consciously showing up as your best self in every interaction.
Whether it’s in your business or life, building and developing meaningful relationships is essential. Creating perceptions that represent that best, begins with YOU!
Always keep radiating your beautiful light to the world living life with passion, purpose and meaning.
