As another year unfolds, before you go set off on your new quest, vision or dream, I have one question for you:
Do you trust yourself?
Trust is a huge part of your self-esteem that knows and believes that you are someone that can handle whatever life throws at you, cope with all challenges and even thrive under any circumstances.
It’s no surprise that the higher your self-esteem, the more boldly you walk into life, make decisions and take long-term action.
When you don’t trust yourself, you doubt yourself, you doubt your abilities, you doubt your decisions, you don’t feel motivated, you get discouraged easily and you have a hard time following through.
Each time you make a promise to yourself and you break it, you chip away at your self-esteem and your ability to trust yourself. If you don’t have trust in yourself, you won’t take action.
Watch this week's episode to not only identify where you are breaking the most important promises to yourself and how to create promises for your greatest good!
The land of broken promises eventually turns into the land of broken dreams when you make promises to yourself based on “I should do this,” focusing solely on instant gratification rather than long-term payoff, over-promising and under-delivering, or run by your past patterns and your old story.
Answer the following three questions to assess whether you have been making empty promises to yourself:
Write down the most recent promise you broke with yourself and your
What was the exact choice you made to break that promise to yourself and your dream?
What is the next key skill or habit you need to develop that will make your vision inevitable?
The key here is to shift from instant gratification to long-term. A promise is a declaration that something will or will not be done or given. It’s a muscle that needs to be trained and flexed on a daily basis.
So before you make another promise that winds up in the land of broken dreams, whatever your mission, New Year’s Resolution, goal, or dream, make a promise to yourself to make conscious promises backed up with intention, sustenance and commitment.
Put your next promise you make to yourself to the test with The 3C Rule:
Confidence – Do you have the best intention in your heart and mind?
Competence – Do you have the skills, training or expertise to do what you are promising to do?
Consistency – Will you persist long-term regardless of any obstacles or setbacks you make face in order to achieve the completed result?
Bottom line, whatever promise you do make to yourself, I hope this next year you build a rock solid trust within yourself and belief in yourself.
When you have a high self-esteem, you deeply feel in your core that you are able to handle absolutely anything that comes your way, which makes you unstoppable.
Always keep radiating your beautiful light to the world living life with passion, purpose and meaning.
