why you're procrastinating (and what to do about it)

8/4/2015

If you are struggling with procrastination, you are not alone. It’s so easy to fall into the “shiny object” syndrome.

There’s so many things you want to pursue and you want to do them all at the same time…

Yet, when you pursue an idea every time you get excited about something new, you get less accomplished because you start out feeling overwhelmed and stressed by busywork.

Not to mention, the disappointment of adding up all the time spent with a mine of unfinished goals and ideas.

Getting smart and strategic about starting specific ideas requires clarity. Watch this week’s video to gain clarity and increase your forward momentum.
Set Concrete Goal
You want to set a concrete goal. Having a successful business it way to vague. Everyone wants that.

Defining goals that are aligned with your passions and core value have a better chance of you following through to the finish line. Why are those goals important to you?

Do you want to grow your email list to 15,000? Do you want 5 more coaching clients? Do you want to sell 1,000 products a month? Or finally create the online program you have been talking about?

When you have clarity on what you want to achieve you are less likely to bounce around from idea to idea with little to show for it.

Step by step plan of action
What is your week-by-week game plan and the simplest breakdown of that plan? This allows you to focus on your immediate actions and constantly to re-evaluate your progress. It also gives you the flexibility to shift or course correct as you move forward.

Know your outcome and know which actions will get you to that outcome. You have to go through a mass of ideas to find the few that are gems. That requires you to test and refine which ideas are worth your time and effort. Then scrap the rest.

Stick to the plan!
After you create the plan you need to work the plan. This is by far the hardest part for people, especially for creative individuals who want to keep creating.

You have so many ideas that you want to pursue at the same time. When you know your outcome, it’s selecting the best ideas and tasks that only support your outcome.

Most people make the mistake of just running with any idea before spending the time before hand to figure out whether you’ll want to put in the hard work to finish it or if it will help you reach your goal in the first place.

Test your ideas and talk with your audience. This will ensure you eliminate any guesswork.

Clarity is the glue that holds everything together.

Now it’s your turn! In the comments below, write down one thought you have about how you overcome procrastination and "shiny object" syndrome.

Do your best to share as much detail as you can because your story may well be someone else's inspiration.

Always keep radiating your beautiful light to the world living life with passion, purpose and meaning.

With Love and Belief in YOU,

Yelena
